Release metadata service

This is a sample incident used to prove the Gapjunction field-note structure. It does not describe a Ruvu customer event.

Timeline

A deployment introduced a cache key that omitted the requested release channel.

The synthetic availability check reported stale metadata on the candidate endpoint.

Release engineering paused metadata publication and began comparing cache entries.

The previous release was restored and the cache was cleared.

Checks confirmed current metadata across the release endpoints.

Impact

For this sample, new release discovery was delayed for 47 minutes. Existing installed software and running integrations were not affected.

Cause

The cache key did not include the release channel, so requests for one channel could receive metadata stored for another channel.

Containment

Publication was paused, the previous release was restored and cached metadata was cleared before service resumed.

Correction

The cache key now includes the release channel and the test suite proves that stable and candidate metadata remain separate.
